Lula to announce measures to strengthen Brazil’s environmental agenda

Brasilia, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will announce a series of measures aimed at strengthening environmental protection, addressing the effects of climate change, and boosting the ecological transition and sustainable development.

The Presidency informed that the initiatives are part of the commemorative activities for World Environment Day and seek to broaden recognition of those who provide environmental services through nature conservation, as well as strengthen the protection of Brazilian biomes.

The planned actions include the enactment of a law, the signing of decrees, the creation and expansion of federal Conservation Units, and the announcement of new investments for the environmental agenda through the Climate Fund and the Amazon Fund.

Lula reaffirmed on June 5, World Environment Day, Brazil’s commitment to sustainability, the protection of biomes, and the goal of achieving zero deforestation by 2030.

The ceremony will take place in the Noble Hall of the Planalto Palace, the seat of the federal Executive, and will be attended by Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, João Paulo Capobianco, and other government officials.
