Cuban university joins Global Network “Va por la Tierra”

Cienfuegos, Cuba, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) The University of Cienfuegos officially joined the "Va por la Tierra" network through an international agreement signed by its rector and the global leader of the initiative, the institution reported.

The agreement was signed by the rector of the University of Cienfuegos “Carlos Rafael Rodriguez”, PhD. Orquidea Urquiola Sanchez, and PhD. Salvador Castell Gonzalez, global leader of “Va por la Tierra”.

The agreement strengthens alliances in sustainability, environmental education, and scientific cooperation, and consolidates the university’s presence in international collaborative networks.

Va por la Tierra is a social, educational, and scientific engineering platform that seeks to democratize knowledge to transform territories. After two decades of work, it connects sustainability and community action movements in Latin America.

Its founder, Salvador Castell-Gonzalez, a marine biologist with master’s degrees in Genomic Biotechnology and doctorates in Biochemistry and Education, officially launched the organization on April 22, 2025.
