Israeli army lacks morality, ruling party in Türkiye says

Ankara, Jun 12 (Prensa Latina) The spokesman for Türkiye’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Ömer Çelik, stated that no one can consider the Israeli army a moral force, accusing it of committing genocide against the population of Gaza.

The statements were made during a press conference held at the AKP headquarters in Ankara, following a meeting chaired by the President of Türkiye and leader of the political organization, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Çelik condemned the recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed against Erdoğan and called the Israeli leader’s claim that his armed forces constitute “the most moral army in the world” “the biggest lie in the world.”

“No one in the world can believe that an army committing genocide in Gaza is a moral army,” the spokesman stated, adding that Israeli military actions in the Gaza Strip, as well as attacks against Iran and operations in Lebanon, represent some of the most immoral and unforgivable acts.

The AKP leader also rejected Netanyahu’s accusations that Türkiye is committing genocide against the Kurdish population, calling them a recurring political propaganda strategy.

According to Çelik, Israel has attempted to use Kurdish communities in Iran and Iraq to promote its regional interests, although, he asserted, these communities refused to participate in such initiatives.

The spokesman further maintained that the Israeli government seeks to foment divisions among various ethnic and religious groups in the region, including Kurds, Arabs, Druze, Alawites, Nusayris, and Shiites, with the aim of exacerbating internal tensions.

“When the term genocide is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is the network headed by Netanyahu,” the political leader stated, reiterating the Turkish government’s criticism of Israeli military operations in the Middle East.

The statements come amid a growing deterioration in relations between Türkiye and Israel, marked by disagreements over the situation in Gaza and escalating regional tensions.
