The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) criticized the Knesset’s (Parliament’s) approval of the National Security Committee’s initiative.
They affirmed that the new plan “is another link in the chain of established legislation and policies (…) designed to legitimize and legally protect grave violations against the Palestinian people.”
Both institutions underscored that the implementation of this project reveals Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s insistence on transforming the exceptional measures imposed in jails into permanent and systematic policies and laws.
They stressed that the goal is to ensure the consolidation of the system of repression and torture upon which the structure of these prisons is based.
