Lara affirmed, “It is always the same pattern: international scandal and no domestic accountability, and there are clear culprits. You failed as Government Minister (Marco Antonio Oviedo), as the commander general of the Bolivian Police (Mirko Sokol); the director of the Special Force to Fight Drug Trafficking (FELCN) (Franz Cabrera); and the former deputy minister of Controlled Substances, Ernesto Justiniano, did.”

This was his response on Oviedo’s announcement regarding the setting up of an International Verification and Investigation Commission, which will include the participation of the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the European Union (EU), and the Spanish National Police.

Additionally, Oviedo invited figures such as Edmand Lara, far-right politician Jorge Tuto Quiroga, and former President Evo Morales to appoint delegates as observers for this investigation in Chile.

In response, Vice President Lara insisted that the State’s anti-drug policy is a “failure,” and also rejected Minister Oviedo’s proposal, describing it as an evasion of duties.
