The latest additions to the list of those who have overcome the disease are two people from the Bunia health zone in Ituri province, “a strong sign” that Ebola is curable, the ministry stated.
As of June 10, the DRC had confirmed 676 cases of the disease, of which 629 are in Ituri, 44 in North Kivu, and three in South Kivu. Twenty-eight health zones are affected by the epidemic, following the addition of Masereka and Vuhovi in North Kivu, and Kambala in Ituri.
The Ministry highlighted the increased surveillance in all areas affected by the outbreak declared on May 15th, and stressed the need for people to seek treatment at centers as soon as the first symptoms appear, since early treatment saves lives.
