“I come before you today to advocate for the sovereignty and security of the Cuban people,” said the founder of the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, urging the American people to take immediate action on behalf of the besieged Caribbean nation.
The renowned musician called on citizens to write “to their governor, their state representatives, their local representatives, the president, and demand that this barbaric crime against a small island be stopped immediately.”
He also rejected the false argument that Cuba poses an unusual and extraordinary threat to US national security. “Nothing could be further from the truth,” he emphasized.

“Call your elected representatives, demonstrate, do whatever is necessary, but please do not allow the Cuban people to suffer any more unnecessarily,” O’Farrill concluded.
In a recent interview, the musician expressed his firm opposition to the growing threats of U.S. military aggression against Cuba. He pointed out that this was the wrong path.
“If I see a problem in your house, I can’t go and take charge. The United States wants to do that, and I feel sorry for them. That is such a fundamental flaw that it shames me.”
