Cuban medical cooperation recognized in El Salvador

San Salvador, Jun 13 (Prensa Latina) The Operation Miracle and Mission Miracle Solidarity Network in El Salvador highlighted the 63rd anniversary of Cuban medical cooperation and paid tribute to the more than 600,000 collaborators who served in 165 countries.

In a statement, both organizations specified that Cuban professionals carried out their work for more than six decades, reaching remote and difficult-to-access regions.

Referring to Operation Miracle Cuba-El Salvador (2006-2019), the document states that it benefited the recovery or improvement of the visual health of some 50,000 Salvadorans from different social sectors, without distinction of political, ideological, religious, cultural, or economic positions.

Cuban medical cooperation is an expression of international solidarity that knows no borders, the document states, emphasizing the creation of medical schools abroad and the Latin American School of Medicine, initiatives boosted to train professionals from the world’s most disadvantaged sectors.

Both organizations demanded that the United States immediately ceases its persecution of Cuban medical internationalism and called for an end to the energy and oil embargo unilaterally imposed by the administration of US President Donald Trump, as well as the recent measures imposed against the Cuba Petroleum Union (CUPET) on June 11, 2026.

These measures directly affect Cuba’s stability and exacerbate an energy crisis that has delayed more than 100,000 surgeries, including more than 12,000 for children, as well as pending procedures for women and the elderly.

They demanded that Washington remove Cuba from the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism, condemned the false accusations against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro Ruz, and the measures taken against President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Lis Cuesta Peraza, the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, and the Cuban Friendship Institute.
