Vietnam: Orgs concerned about new US measures against Cuba

Hanoi, Jun 13 (Prensa Latina) Vietnamese friendship organizations expressed their deep concern regarding the new legal measures, sanctions, and restrictions imposed by the United States on Cuba.

The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association (VCFA) cited, in a message of solidarity with the Cuban people, Executive Order 14404 of May 1 and the criminal charges against Army General Raul Castro as examples of these measures.

They also mentioned actions targeting Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel, the families of Cuban leaders, and certain organizations, institutions, and companies of the Caribbean country.

The document also expresses deep concern about the difficulties faced by the Cuban people due to the prolonged impacts of the US blockade, sanctions, and other unilateral coercive measures that hinder economic and social development, directly affect the well-being of the population, and worsen the humanitarian situation.

The text underscored in another section, “We are particularly concerned about the sanctions on the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP), a people’s diplomacy organization that plays a fundamental role in boosting solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the Cuban people and the peoples of the world.”

The message from VUFO and VCFA also calls “on all parties to refrain from any action that exacerbates tensions and to prioritize dialogue and peaceful means in areas of the well-being of the peoples, and peace and stability in the region.”
