In the meeting, the Cuban diplomat conveyed the warm greetings of the leadership of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, emphasizing the positive state of relations between the two legislatures and the willingness of parliamentary authorities in Havana to maintain open communication with their Grenadian counterparts, a diplomatic source reported.
For his part, Leo Cato reaffirmed Grenada’s support for Cuba during times of external hostility and stressed that solidarity with Cuba remains unwavering for Grenadian institutions.
He also agreed that the current energy embargo imposed by the United States government against Cuba constitutes an act of injustice that lacks any basis whatsoever.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives of Grenada recalled that he has traveled to Cuba on several occasions, a nation for which he affirmed he feels great affection.
In this regard, Leo Cato has been, within the Grenadian legislative bodies, an important voice in denouncing the criminal and genocidal US blockade of more than 60 years against the Cuban people.
