The visit to France marks the beginning of a European tour focused on strategic cooperation, technology, and international diplomacy, according to Indian media, cited by the newspaper Le Figaro.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, and both will attend the opening of the “Bharat Innovates 2026” event in Nice today, before participating in the summit.
India’s presence at the G7 forum reflects the recognition of the international influence India has acquired, BFMTV noted.
Modi’s arrival is part of the routine, as delegations from the G7 member countries arrive in France for their summit, which will take place from the 15th to the 17th of this month in Evian-les-Bains, with a broad agenda of crucial global issues.
The crisis in the Middle East, following the US and Israeli aggression against Iran demands, Tehran’s subsequent closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and a possible agreement to end it, will be among the summit’s topics.
In addition, the G7 leaders will address the conflict in Ukraine, an issue on which there are differences between the White House and European states regarding the supply of weapons to Kyiv.
The high-level meeting also plans to address reducing dependence on rare earth minerals, lithium and cobalt, which are essential elements for batteries, semiconductors, defense, and advanced technologies.
In addition, the agenda includes the regulation and security of artificial intelligence use, energy security, and relations with emerging economies, among other topics.
