Macron is preparing to celebrate the 250th anniversary of US independence with a dinner at Versailles, in whose Hall of Mirrors the Peace Treaty was signed in 1919 to officially end World War I.
But the palace holds symbolic value for both Paris and Washington, as it was also the site of the signing in 1783 of the treaty that established US independence.
The meeting would take place after discussions of crucial global issues at the summit, which is being guarded by some 3,000 military personnel and maritime patrols near Evian-les-Bains, in the southern department of Haute-Savoie.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to attend the meeting of the seven most industrialized nations, although a bilateral meeting with Trump is not currently planned, BFMTV reported.
