In addition to members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Komsomol, members of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Moscow and Cubans residing in Russia attended the June 14th activities.
Young Mikhail Bondarenko stated: “I also want to talk about another facet of Ernesto Guevara’s personality, no less important than his armed struggle.” He was a doctor, and he took up arms not for destruction or for an empty struggle for the sake of struggle itself. He took them up as a scalpel to excise the exploitation of humanity’s body. He was a Builder with a capital B, Bondarenko emphasized.
At this moment, Cuba, “the Island of Freedom,” which has lived for decades under the most severe blockade imposed by the most powerful imperialism in the world, has not only resisted but has made an enormous contribution to one of humanity’s main battles in the 21st century: the fight for health, he noted.
If one reflects on Cuba’s achievements and the external conditions under which they have been attained, it is truly impressive, Bondarenko concluded.
For her part, the First Secretary of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Moscow, Ana Lourdes Gonzalez, called for continued support for her country through concrete actions.
