In a statement, the group repudiated the inclusion of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP) and Amistur S.A. on a sanctions list.
In this regard, ICAP described the decision by the US Treasury Department as perverse and stated that it is part of a policy of harassment sustained for more than six decades against the Cuban people.
The organization denounced that Washington intends to subdue the Caribbean nation for having chosen a sovereign and independent path, without submitting to the interests of the northern power.
He also rejected the accusations made under the pretext of “national security” and defended the work of ICAP and Amistur, entities dedicated to promoting international solidarity and channeling donations, medicines, and other resources to vulnerable sectors of the Cuban population.
He also reaffirmed his support for the just causes of the Cuban people and for ICAP’s solidarity work in the face of increased pressure from the U.S. administration.
Furthermore, he called on friendship associations with Cuba worldwide to reject any attempt to criminalize international solidarity and to strengthen cooperative ties with the island nation.
