An inscription, at the base of the award, highlights the brilliant career of the artist who founded, in her native Havana, the Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba (LADC) 35 years ago and the homonymous academy a year later, her career as a choreographer, director, and academician, and her role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
It also emphasizes her success in diverse stage productions in several countries.
Daniel Martin, president of the Latin Music Institute (ILM), stated that the award, presented by the Latin Music Awards Academy, has recognized the social commitment, talent, perseverance, achievements, and career of prominent figures since 1995.
Among its most notable recipients are His Holiness John Paul II and, from Cuba, such beloved figures as Historian Eusebio Leal and artists Edesio Alejandro, Daniel Martin, and Carlos Alberto “Tin” Cremata.
