The initiative combined the provision of consular services with the analysis of trade and investment opportunities linked to the island.
The event was attended by the Cuban Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Angel Arzuaga Reyes, who engaged in discussions with the participants on various topics of interest to the Cuban community residing abroad and reiterated the diplomatic mission’s commitment to bringing its services closer to the different Dominican provinces.
In his address, the diplomat updated the audience on the island’s economic situation and meant that the current difficulties are caused by the intensification of the U.S. economic, commercial, and financial blockade, as well as the oil embargo and other measures that, he stated, directly impact families.
As part of the day’s events, a Business Forum was also held, bringing together Cuban and Dominican businesspeople to discuss Cuba’s export offerings, foreign investment opportunities, and the measures implemented by the Cuban government to address the complex economic situation the country is facing.
Participants positively assessed the Mobile Consulate and the Business Forum, considering that these initiatives strengthen ties between the Cuban community and their country of origin, while also promoting economic and commercial cooperation between the two nations.
The Cuban Embassy announced that the next Mobile Consulate event will be held in the city of San Francisco de Macoris during the month of July.
