The Lebanese Foreign Ministry issued a statement informing that the first complaint concerns the glyphosate spraying carried out by the Israeli army on several border villages in southern Lebanon in February 2026.
The diplomatic institution stated that the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) prohibits the use of herbicides as a method of warfare, and laboratory analyses in soil samples from the towns of Ayta ash-Sha’b, Ras Naqoura, and Dhayra confirmed high concentrations of that substance.
The second complaint addresses Israeli attacks on Lebanon, including the airstrikes in early June on a Lebanese Army vehicle on the road between Kfar Tebnit and Khardali in the country’s southern region.
The Ministry stated that this action resulted in the deaths of two officers, a brigadier general and a captain, as well as a soldier who was on duty in the area.
Lebanese authorities requested that the United Nations condemn those attacks and adopt immediate measures to stop the aggression, and guarantee compliance with the United Nations Charter and international resolutions, particularly Security Council Resolution 1701.
