The Indian political organization reaffirmed its support for the Cuban people’s struggle in defense of socialism and the protection of their homeland during anti-imperialist solidarity meetings and seminars with Havana held throughout Tamil Nadu on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the birth of the Argentine-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto Guevara on June 14.
The activities also paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on the occasion of the upcoming centenary of his birth on August 13.
At a solidarity meeting in the Cuddalore district, K. Balakrishnan, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPI(M), emphasized the importance of anti-imperialist struggles and the role of the Communist Party in this context.
Recently, in a message for the Indian YouTube channel Left Views, which features a series called “Let Cuba Live,” the Secretary
General of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), M.A. Baby, urged a firm stance of solidarity with the Caribbean nation.
Baby denounced the danger threatening the world, which is affecting Cuba most intensely, among other countries, due to the blatant acts of aggression by the military-industrial and media complex, led by US President Donald Trump.
In that regard, he remembered Trump’s threats to “take over Cuba after resolving his conflict with Iran” and Washington’s actions to justify an illegal military attack against the Caribbean nation, such as the unjust accusation against the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raul Castro, for a legitimate act of defending national sovereignty that occurred more than 30 years ago.
Baby called on New Delhi to act immediately in solidarity with Cuba, given that it is a friend of India and a member of the Non-Aligned Movement.
“We must all organize our firm solidarity with the people, the government, and the Communist Party of Cuba,” he emphasized.
He stated that Cuba is a sovereign nation with a socialist system and is striving to develop an egalitarian society, despite the cruel economic, commercial, and financial blockade and the continuous and intensified aggression by the United States against its people.
