The Nation newspaper noted that authorities have not yet clarified whether the postponement is temporary or linked to adjustments in diplomatic efforts related to the next phase of implementation of the so-called Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, signed electronically by the presidents of the United States, Donald Trump, and Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian.
Sharif and Pezeshkian agreed, in a phone call on Thursday, to visit each other’s countries as soon as possible to strengthen the excellent cooperation between the two nations on bilateral and regional issues.
Sharif congratulated Pezeshkian, the Iranian Government, and the people on the signing of the historic agreement, which he considered not only crucial for restoring peace in the region but also fundamental for the reconstruction of Iran and the strengthening of relations between the two nations in all areas of mutual interest.
In addition to conveying his greetings to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, the Pakistani head of Government praised Tehran’s decision to sign the agreement and wished them success in the next phase of negotiations.
