Brazilian president to develop agenda in Minas Gerais

Brasilia, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will go with an agenda focused on strengthening public health, with the opening of a hospital and announcements of investments in cancer care.

The President’s office noted that Lula will travel to Divinopolis, in Minas Gerais state, to attend the opening of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Sao Joao del Rei, considered crucial for expanding the healthcare capacity of the Unified Health System (SUS) in the region.

The new hospital will have 198 beds exclusively for public healthcare and will also be a center for teaching, research, and training of healthcare professionals.

It will be linked to the Brazilian Hospital Services Company, responsible for managing these federal university infrastructures.

The source added that it will also enable the expansion of consultations, examinations, surgeries, and specialized procedures for thousands of residents in central-western Minas Gerais.

After the ceremony in Divinopolis, Lula will travel to Belo Horizonte to participate in the announcement of investments earmarked for cancer care within the SUS.
