Cuba celebrates Father’s Day with a huge entrepreneurial fair

Havana, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) Furniture, shoes, clothing, jewelry, and more are on offer at the "Art for Dad" Fair, a national initiative of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets for families, in celebration of Father's Day.

Cuba has commemorated this date since 1938, thanks to the efforts of writer Dulce Maria Borrero; together with other Latin American countries and the United States, the third Sunday of June was chosen as the official day.

“Our creators and new forms of non-state management are joining together once again to give you the best; come along, because Dad deserves his gift,” urged the Fund for Cultural Assets on social media.

In this capital city, the Línea y 18 Cultural Station hosts dozens of booths and producers, featuring projects like Lady Karla (shoes), Leo&Migue (furniture), Sin Molde (handicrafts), Kmy (esotericism), Diamante Negro (jewelry), and of course, Artex, linked to literary and artistic promotions.

Jessica Garcia, the business manager of the artisanal design venture Escarlata, told Prensa Latina exclusively that the event, and others like it, allow artisans and projects to showcase their creations to a wider audience.

In turn, families have access to a diverse selection of gifts for fathers, as well as a space for recreation and food options.

“We can promote handmade products, since with the increase in imports, their value has decreased considerably,” she acknowledged. “It’s not the first time we’ve worked at this venue, and as on previous occasions, we’ve been very welcome,” added Jessica García.

The event will continue until Saturday the 20th, with its main venue at the Línea and 18th Street Station in Havana’s Vedado neighborhood, and branches in various provinces throughout the country.
