Daesh claims attack against judicial official near Damascus

Damascus, Jun18 (Prensa Latina) The Islamic State terrorist group (Daesh in Arabic) claimed responsibility today for the attack on the vehicle of the head of the Justice Department in the town of Babila, on the outskirts of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

In a statement released on its Telegram channel, the organization asserted that its members detonated an explosive device as Salah Ahmed Al-Saleh’s vehicle passed through the Daf Al-Shouk neighborhood, south of Damascus, resulting in the amputation of one of his legs.

According to a security source cited by the state television channel Al-Ikhbariya, the official’s vehicle was struck by an explosive device, causing injuries. No further official details have yet been released regarding his condition or the perpetrators of the attack.

Syrian authorities have not yet issued a full report on the circumstances of the attack. The incident is part of a series of violent actions attributed to ISIS in various regions of the country, primarily targeting security forces and public officials.

In recent months, the group has claimed responsibility for other attacks in provinces such as Hasakah and Aleppo, amidst security operations against remnant cells of the organization, which is listed as a state sponsor of terrorism internationally.
