The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported that the bombing, carried out by drone, targeted a vehicle traveling on the roundabout located between the towns of Kfar Tibnit and Arnoun, in the Nabatieh district, resulting in one death and one serious injury.
The incident is the first reported attack since the announcement of the entry into force of the memorandum signed by Washington and Tehran, an agreement that, according to Iranian authorities and Pakistani mediators, calls for a cessation of hostilities on several regional fronts, including Lebanese territory.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed that the presidents of the United States and Iran electronically signed the document, which reflects both sides’ commitment to moving toward a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
Although the full content of the agreement has not been released by Washington, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi recently stated that the end of military operations in Lebanon and the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory are among the commitments included.
However, sectors of the Israeli government, particularly representatives of the far right, have rejected any link between a potential agreement with Iran and the suspension of military actions in Lebanon, insisting on maintaining their operations and presence in the south of the country.
