Macron affirmed, “The policy being implemented in Gaza, as before, and the policy regarding the occupied West Bank with the new Israeli settlers, are completely unacceptable and, in the long run, are against Israel’s own interests.”
The French president pointed out that Tel Aviv is fueling discontent among the people of the region, after Israeli airstrikes on Gaza have caused more than 72,000 deaths since October 2023, and nearly 3,900 in Lebanon since March 2.
The head of State admitted that in the war waged by Israel with the announced aim of destroying the Hamas resistance movement, responsible for a major action against the occupation in October 2023, “Israel attacked the Palestinian population unfoundedly.”
Tel Aviv never complied with the ceasefire agreement reached with Lebanon, after continuing its airstrikes on southern Lebanon and the outskirts of Beirut, amid international condemnation of this aggression.
