During the closing ceremony of the Turkish-Italian Business Forum held in Istanbul with the participation of institutional representatives and entrepreneurs from both nations, Polat highlighted the dynamism of the bilateral economic relations and described Italy as one of Turkiye’s leading partners in the Mediterranean region.
The trade minister pointed out that the ties between the two countries are based on mutual trust, the complementarity of their industrial capabilities, and a long tradition of economic and trade cooperation.
The official noted that more than 1,600 Italian companies operate in Turkiye, some with a presence dating back to the Ottoman Empire era, and specified that investments from Italy hover around 3.5 billion dollars.
He explained that those capitals are distributed in strategic sectors such as infrastructure, energy, the automotibile industry, finance, and pharmaceutical and chemical products.
Polat also highlighted the growing presence of Turkish companies in Italy, particularly in activities related to logistics, transportation, port management, healthcare, the chemical industry, textiles, and hospitality.
