As part of the cultural presentation, a workshop and lecture on the influence of Cuban and Russian painters on universal art, reflecting the realities of both nations, were held at the Contra Viento y Marea studio.
The young Cuban painter, Josmany Courent “Coqui,” explained the connection between Cuban artist Wilfredo Lam and Pablo Picasso, the Spanish artist and creator of the Cubist movement.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Courent emphasized the importance of art as a bridge between the two nations, as well as the need to cultivate spirituality in such complex times as those the world is currently experiencing. As the day drew to a close, attendees were able to express their vision of Picasso’s works through drawings.
This cultural exchange became a bridge of respect and solidarity. Strengthening these ties is also an investment in a future of cooperation and understanding between Havana and Moscow.
