A presidential decree states that the measure takes effect from 06:00 hours (local time) this Tuesday until midnight.
During this period, the national flag is raised at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions, as a sign of tribute to the memory of the historic revolutionary leader.
The decree also establishes that the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX) are responsible for ensuring compliance with the adopted provisions.
Valdes Menendez was one of the historic commanders of the Cuban Revolution and belonged to the generation that accompanied Fidel Castro in the fight against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.
