Prensa Latina learnt that the organization pointed out that the decisions adopted by the Cuban authorities are an exercise of sovereignty and responsibility aimed at finding solutions to the complex economic situation the country is now facing
Members of the community emphasized that, although they reside outside of Cuba, they maintain close ties with their homeland and are intimately familiar with the daily hardships faced by the population as a result of the commercial, economic, financial, and energy blockade imposed by the United States.
Given this context, they believe that the measures implemented by the Cuban government will contribute to protecting the well-being of the population, with special attention to the most vulnerable sectors, as well as stimulating national production and strengthening alternatives to address the limitations resulting from external sanctions.
The organization also valued that the provisions will strengthen the resilience and adaptability of the Cuban economy without abandoning the principles of social justice that characterize the revolutionary project.
In the document, the “Antonio Maceo” Patriotic Community reiterated its rejection of the US blockade and Cuba’s continued inclusion on the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism compiled by Washington.
From Nicaragua, the association also reaffirmed its commitment to continue boosting initiatives of solidarity and material and moral support for Cuba.
“Cuba is not alone; its children, wherever we may be, defend its right to self-determination and development in peace,” the statement concluded.
