Damage in southern Lebanon exceeds one billion dollars

Beirut, Jun 23 (Prensa Latina) Direct damage to buildings in southern Lebanon, resulting from the recent Israeli aggression, exceeds 1.38 billion dollars, a report by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) revealed.

The document, cited by the Lebanese press, also estimates a volume of nearly 3.1 million cubic meters of debris in the affected areas.

The report details the destruction of 11,095 buildings, impacting 17,891 housing units, while 2,242 structures suffered partial damage, affecting 5,219 homes.

The study stated that the methodology used was based on geospatial artificial intelligence, supported by visual documentary verification, without field inspections.

The comparison was made using high-resolution satellite images taken on April 29, 2026, and October 23, 2025, which allowed for identifying damage such as collapsed roofs, structural deformations, and debris accumulation.

Data from the Lebanese Health Ministry noted that Israel has been conducting an expanded offensive against Lebanon since March 2, with airstrikes and the demolition of homes in the country’s southern region, which has left 4,106 dead and 12,153 injured, in addition to displacing more than one million people.
