The statements were released via the social media platform X, in response to recent pronouncements by US President Donald Trump on the regional situation and Iran’s role.
Ghalibaf maintained that Washington’s threats have proven ineffective and asserted that, had they been effective, the current political and diplomatic situation would be different.
“Iran will not yield to the threats of the United States,” the Iranian leader declared, also urging US authorities to be more precise in their public statements.
The head of the legislature affirmed that the Iranian Armed Forces are prepared to respond to any threat and have various options to confront any potential hostile actions.
The statements come amid talks between representatives of Iran and the United States in the Swiss town of Burgenstock, as part of the dialogue established by the so-called Islamabad Agreement, mediated by Pakistan.
Hours earlier, Trump warned that Tehran must prevent the Lebanese movement Hezbollah from inciting unrest in Lebanon and threatened a “very powerful” US response if Iran did not comply.
The ongoing negotiations aim to move toward a final agreement on various bilateral and regional issues, including the Iranian nuclear program, the lifting of sanctions, and the reduction of tensions in the Middle East.
