In one of the messages, the Broad Front in Defense of Economic and Social Rights (Frenadeso) sent condolences to the government and people of the island for this profound loss.
Referring to the legendary Rebel Army combatant, Frenadeso emphasized that someone who continues to be a guide in the struggles of peoples for justice, social equity, and free self-determination has passed into immortality.
Members of the Cuban state mission in Panama, the National Solidarity Coordinating Committee, and the Martí Association of Cuban Residents, among others, also joined in the day of mourning following the death of the Commander of the Revolution.
The day before, the leadership of the Cuban Party, State, and Government officially announced the news and highlighted the brilliant service record of the historic revolutionary leader.
Ramiro Valdes was a prominent figure in the history of Cuba. Linked to revolutionary activities from a very young age, Valdes participated in decisive events of the insurrectionary struggle led by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
He participated in the attack on the Moncada Garrison (1953), the Granma yacht expedition (1956), and reached the rank of Commander in the Rebel Army in the Sierra Maestra mountains.
After the triumph of January 1, 1959, he assumed responsibilities at the highest military, political, and governmental levels, of great importance to the life of the country.
