Cuban Ambassador to this nation, Belkys Lay, told Prensa Latina that the solidarity event, held at Nicolas Guillen bookstore, had “a beautiful, magnificent ending to the celebration of Che’s 98th birthday and Fidel Castro’s 100th birthday in Asuncion, thanks to La Tocatta and Mito Sequera.”
The event began with a videoconference by Cuban sociologist and researcher Carlos Tablada, who spoke about Fidel Castro and Che’s economic thought.
A moving message from Dr. Aleida Guevara, daughter of the so-called Heroic Guerrilla, addressed to the Paraguayans in solidarity with Cuba, was also shown.
Those attending the activity received with admiration and joy the words of gratitude and encouragement from the renowned defender of the Cuban Revolution, who appreciated the affection shown to her father.
Ambassador Lay, in turn, spoke about Che Guevara’s contributions, his calls for unity, and the current role of Cuban intellectuals and artists in confronting the cultural and smear war against the revolution.
