The Interior Ministry stated that the total number of injured has risen to 54, while search and rescue operations continue to locate the missing ones.

The ministry pointed out that Qatar’s International Search and Rescue Group, attached to the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), is working jointly with Civil Defense teams in the operations deployed at the site of the accident. Authorities reported that the explosion occurred as a result of a technical failure during operations at a factory located in Ras Laffan industrial zone.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the incident did not result in any leaks of materials that pose additional risks to public safety or the environment.

Emergency teams remain deployed in the area to assess the damage, assist the injured, and continue the search for missing persons.

Ras Laffan industrial zone, located in northern Qatar, is home to the world’s largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and is a key pillar of the Gulf nation’s energy and export industry.
