The official statement specified that Erdogan’s position was expressed during a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, in which the two presidents discussed bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues.
The Turkish head of State affirmed that the agreement between Tehran and Washington is welcome and Turkiye will provide all possible support to ensure the process concludes peacefully.
He added that taking steps to strengthen regional peace in this new phase is important and necessary, and Ankara will work toward this end.
Erdogan also underscored the importance of being alert to those seeking to sabotage the negotiations between the two capitals.
Talks between the United States and Iran were held at the Swiss resort of Burgenstock, within the framework of the so-called “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.”
The 14-item agreement, brokered by Pakistan, was announced on June 14 by Iran and the United States as a framework to halt the war and resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation.
