Hadad, along with lawyer Paula Abugattas and activist Jihad Shahwan, handed over a letter at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), which addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, requested Tel Aviv’s removal from that body.
He remembered that 78 years have passed since the “Nakba” or “catastrophe” in Arabic displaced 750,000 Palestinians due to the Israeli invasion, and the situation reached its lowest point with the genocide in Gaza, where more than 73,000 people, mostly women and children, have been killed.
Lawyer Paula Abugattas explained that the UN Security Council (UNSC) is completely blocked due to the veto power.
Jihad Chahuan, a member of the Sign for Palestine international initiative, told Prensa Latina that the situation in Gaza is worsening every day, the attacks continue, the Strip is blockaded, and people are dying of hunger and diseases.
The promoters of the initiative stated that the nearly 80,000 signatures supporting Israel’s expulsion from the UN “come from citizens worldwide, cultures, and legal traditions, united by the conviction that impunity cannot be the final word of international law.”
