The Cuban academic institution noted that the event is taking place at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and features dancers from 35 countries.
Azurmendi and Baro will perform the classic pas de deux “Esmeralda” and “Black Swan,” the latter a duet from the iconic ballet “Swan Lake.”
Dani Hernandez, director of the “Fernando Alonso” National Ballet School, is accompanying, as a teacher, the students, who will also present a contemporary work at the competition, choreographed by Norge Cedeno and Thais Suarez, founders in Cuba of OtroLado Dance Company.
The 15th edition of this Ballet Competition pays tribute to Yuri Grigorovich, the historic artistic director and president of the Moscow jury for more than 50 years, who passed away in 2025.
