Donald Trump accused of crimes against humanity in Panama

Panama City, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) Panamanian organizations have filed a complaint against U.S. President Donald Trump for crimes against humanity.

The document outlining the complaint—submitted by civil society groups at the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights offices in the capital—also implicates Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

The document asserts that these officials are responsible for acts of genocide and grave violations of international law against populations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

They cite the economic, commercial, financial, and energy blockade against Cuba, the deportation and forced disappearance of migrants, as well as arbitrary imprisonment and the outsourcing of detention centers to countries such as El Salvador and Ecuador.

The document’s signatories include the Martí Association of Cubans Residing in Panama, the National Front for Economic and Social Rights (Frenadeso), the National Workers’ Confederation of Panama (CNTP), and the National Education Workers’ Union (SITEN).

The signatories requested that the United Nations initiate an immediate preliminary examination by the International Criminal Court, invoking the territorial jurisdiction of States Parties to the Rome Statute—such as Cuba and Venezuela—where the effects of the denounced policies are being felt.

Furthermore, they urged OAS member states to condemn the use of unilateral coercive measures in the final declaration, deeming it an “indispensable condition for preserving the credibility of the Inter-American system.”
