Issues such as university autonomy, education as a right, solidarity-based cooperation, sovereignty, and Latin American and Caribbean integration will be discussed during the meeting.

They are considered strategic pillars for consolidating greater collaboration among higher education institutions.

The opening day includes a plenary session on the situation of higher education in Latin America.

The leaders of the participating institutions will attend thematic panels and approve the Foz do Iguaçu Charter, which outlines the forum’s leading points of consensus.

The organizers noted that the event emerged as a platform for cooperation among higher education institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean to reduce asymmetries, expand academic partnerships, and position university education as a pillar of sustainable development, sovereignty, and regional integration.
