“In the current situation, not only is the credibility of the Christian message at stake, but the very future of humanity,” the Pope stated in an audience granted to members of the delegation headed by Emmanuel, Metropolitan of Chalcedon, who traveled to the Holy See to participate in the celebration of Saints Peter and Paul.

The Bishop of Rome stated that “in an era marked by wars and growing polarization, as well as by cultural and social divisions, Christians, reconciled with one another and united in the profession of a single faith, are called to be a credible sign of peace,” according to a statement released by the Vatican press office.

The leader of the Catholic Church affirmed before the members of the Ecumenical Patriarchate delegation that “responsibility for the life and dignity of every human being, beginning with the smallest and most needy, is the criterion that determines our present and eternal destiny.”

Pope Leo XIV reaffirmed in this regard “the need for greater collaboration among Christians in the face of current challenges, such as peace, the proper use of new technologies, and the care of creation,” the statement added.
