The show, “Yuan Yuan Tan and friends,” will take place on July 10 as a tribute to that historical figure, who became the youngest female dancer to reach the highest artistic rank in the San Francisco Ballet company and was the first Chinese classical dancer to achieve such a high level within a professional company in the United States.
At the age of 50, the artistic director of the Suzhou Ballet has won several accolades, both in the West and the East, for her exceptional talent that her native country intends to celebrate with a prestigious international gala.
The BNC noted that Delgado and Montero will perform the pas de deux from “El Cosario” (The Corsair), considered a cornerstone of the classical repertoire, as well as the contemporary piece “Aria Suspendida” (Aria Suspended), by Italian choreographer Mauro de Candia, on music by Johann Sebastian Bach.
Maria Khoreva, of the Mariinsky Ballet (Russia); Julian Mackay, of the Bavarian State Opera (Germany); and from China, Li Jiabo (the Hong Kong Ballet), Qiu Yunting (the National Ballet of China), and Zhang Haidong (the Liaoning Ballet) will perform at the event, along with the Cuban dancers.
