Mariheta Cutino, coordinator of the Cuban medical brigade in this nation, described, in a moving farewell ceremony, as an honor to speak on behalf of the thousands of men and women who arrived in the country in 1998.
Cutino mentioned the places where the doctors, attending the ceremony, worked, such as the Fray Bartolome de las Casas Hospital, the San Pedro Necta Hospital, the Nebaj Hospital in Santa Rosa, Totonicapan, Suchitepequez, among others.
Cuban Ambassador to this nation, Nazario Fernandez, affirmed, “You leave behind a legacy of dignity, professionalism, and everyday heroism.”
The ambassador added, “Have the satisfaction that you fulfilled your duty to your country, to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the driving force behind this humanitarian endeavor, whom we are honoring on his 100th birthday.”
