The US and Saudi Arabia have deteriorated due to anger in Riyadh over Washington’s decision to launch a war against Iran, says the unsigned note quoting “intelligence sources.”

Relations between Riyadh and Washington have deteriorated because of the war, says the report, which refers to an article published by the US daily The Wall Street Journal.

Saudi refusal to allow the US to use bases on its territory to break Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz would be the apple of discord, adds the newspaper.

This refusal deprived US forces of the use of their bases and airspace, which were crucial to the operation (and forced to abort it), according to the report.

In fact, it was Tehran’s response, which fired waves of cruise missiles and drones at Washington’s military facilities in countries on the Arabian Peninsula and against Israel, to contained its actions, international analysts believe.

Since the June 2025 attacks in the so-called 12-day war, the US and Israel assumed that Tehran’s military capabilities were nullified – an erroneous and costly analysis.
