Uruguayan Ambassador to Cuba, Juan Canessa, explained that the films are from the South, and were filmed with the problems we have, to create and spread.
Upon addressing the story Becho told, Canessa highlighted that it takes place during the 1924 Paris Olympics and is a tribute to the creator of La Cumparsita, which emerged as the anthem of the student federation.
The movie buffs could enjoy the film “El Bano Del Papa” (The Pope’s Toilet-2007), based on Pope John Paul II’s visit to the city of Melo, a poor border community in Uruguay, where His Holiness began his Latin American tour in 1988.
The selection of films is completed by “Viaje Hacia el Mar” (Journey to the Sea-2003), about the story of six people who have never seen the sea and decide to discover it, and “Nina y Enma” (Nina and Emma-2023), inspired by two young friends who begin their first summer vacation alone.
