US hostility on Cuba decried in Gijon, Spain

Gijon, Spain, Jul 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuba detailed in the Spanish city of Gijon the many ways US direct hostility against its people has been taken by the White House, intended to suffocate the Caribbean island and destroy its Revolution.

During the 18th National Gathering of Solidarity with Cuba, held in Gijon, Asturias, the diplomat addressed 200 participants representing more than 45 organizations from across Spain.

In his remarks, Ambassador Medina stated that the current US war strategy against Cuba and its Revolution aims to cause economic suffocation, thereby inciting the people to rise up against the government.

Another scenario involves pressure to force disadvantageous negotiations that would entail surrendering Cuban sovereignty and the economy to Washington, while the third scenario is direct military aggression.

In this regard, the head of the diplomatic mission of the largest of the Antilles in Spain noted that Cuba’s situation unfolds within a terrible global context—one marked by the “shameful genocide” in Gaza and the actions of an empire that respects nothing.

He pointed out that the encirclement includes a fuel blockade with lethal consequences for society as a whole, severely affecting healthcare, transportation, and the electrical grid.

Furthermore, he denounced Washington’s current efforts to prevent the annual UN debate regarding the blockade against Cuba from taking place.

Nevertheless, Medina asserted that “Cuba will resist, fight, and remain a symbol of resistance for the peoples of the world. With the support of solidarity, it will prevail.”
