Iran denounces US violations of the agreement to the UN

Tehran, Jul 9 (Prensa Latina) Iran today reported to the UN Security Council that the recent US attacks constitute a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

The complaint was presented in two separate letters sent by the Permanent Mission of Iran to the UN to the President of the Security Council and the Secretary-General of the organization.

In the missives, the Iranian mission claimed that the US, by clearly violating the United Nations Charter and its international obligations, again launched large-scale military attacks against Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Tehran argued that the US actions constitute a violation of Article 2, paragraph 4, of the UN Charter, as well as a fundamental breach of Article 1 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

On Thursday, the US announced attacks against Iran for the second consecutive day, while Tehran claimed to have responded with missiles against US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.

The US Central Command declared that its forces attacked approximately 90 Iranian military targets.

The targets mentioned by Washington include air defense systems, coastal surveillance infrastructure, missile and drone depots, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along the Iranian coast.

For its part, Iran’s health ministry reported that 14 people were killed and 78 others injured in the US attacks of the past two days.
