In a message, the foreign minister noted that Cuba remains committed to addressing population dynamics and continuing to advance policies aimed at sustainable development, gender equality, and universal access to healthcare and education.
Rodriguez stated that these goals are being upheld “in the face of the difficult socioeconomic situation the Cuban people are experiencing, caused by the intensified blockade, secondary sanctions, the energy blockade, and threats of military aggression.”
The head of Cuban diplomacy added that the Communist Party and the Government reiterate their commitment to continue promoting actions aimed at the population’s well-being, within a context marked—as he noted—by these external challenges.
World Population Day is observed every July 11 to encourage reflection on demographic trends and development-related challenges, as well as the importance of guaranteeing people’s rights and well-being.
