Iran and Oman coordinate transit management in the Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, Jul 12 (Prensa Latina) The Foreign Ministers of Iran and Oman discussed agreements regarding the management of transit and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz during a meeting in Muscat, the local Foreign Ministry reported.

A statement indicated that legal and technical delegations from both countries also participated in the talks.

The parties analyzed ways to ensure navigational safety in the strait while respecting the sovereign rights of Iran and Oman.

Tehran emphasized that future agreements on transit management through this waterway must be defined through consultations between the two countries, taking into account events over the past few months and their impact on navigational safety.

According to the statement, Iran specifically highlighted the war it considers to have been imposed by the United States and Israel.

Iran and Oman agreed to continue consultations at political, technical, and legal levels to reach a common understanding that ensures navigational safety in the Strait of Hormuz.

VA delegation from the Government of Qatar—a country that has played a mediating role in negotiations between the United States and Iran in recent months—also participated in part of the discussions.
