Members of the diplomatic corps accredited to this nation, including the ambassador of Vietnam, the High Commissioner of South Africa, and officials from the Russian Embassy, attended the meeting, which was held at the Cuban mission in Islamabad.
Also present were representatives of solidarity groups, including the Pakistan-Cuba Social Forum, the Association of Pakistani Doctors Graduated in Cuba, and the Federation of Progressive Students, as well as intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and young people selected to study medicine in the Caribbean country.
Cuban Ambassador to Pakistan, Damian Cordero, highlighted before participants the recent victory at the United Nations in favor of Cuba against the US blockade and expressed his gratitude for the support his country received from friendly nations such as Pakistan.
Cordero also spoke about Fidel Castro in all his dimensions, focusing primarily on his concept of solidarity and its practical expression in the humanitarian work of Cuban professionals in many countries globally.
Roberto Chile’s documentary “En las Laderas del Himalaya” (On the Slopes of the Himalayas), which depicts the humanitarian efforts of Cuba’s Henry Reeve International Contingent of Physicians Specialized in Disaster Situations assisting the residents of the Pakistani mountains after the 2005 quake, was screened.
The workshop concluded with an original musical performance of “Guantanamera” and a group photo.
