The Gibara International Low-Budget Film Festival will take over, until July 18, several venues of the city to delight local people and visitors with this film celebration, which is taking place despite the obstacles stemming from the tightening of the US blockade.

The film “Neurotica Anonima” (Anonymous Neurotic), by Cuban actor and director Jorge Perugorria, will open the festival, which this year is dedicated to filmmaker Humberto Solas (1941-2008) and the 20-year history of exhibiting, distributing, and supporting films made with limited resources.

Film screenings, a book fair, and musical and visual arts performances make up Tuesday’s program of the festival, which returns to its venue under complex circumstances but with the certainty of cinema as its main protagonist.

Three giant screens will be spread throughout the city, the event’s president, Sergio Benvenuto Solas, affirmed on social media, and said it will be a unique and beautiful edition.
