Through his account on X, Rodriguez reaffirmed Cuba’s willingness to continue strengthening the historic ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between both nations.

TheVenezuelan acting president, Delcy Rodriguez, announcedyesterday the merger of the portfolios of Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade into a single entity, which will be directed by Plasencia.

According to the dignitary, the latter has “extensive experience in diplomacy” and will have the mission to run Venezuelan foreign policy, defend the country’s sovereignty, strengthen cooperation relations and promote peace diplomacy in the world.

In his account in X Plasencia thanked this appointment and assured that he assumes with deep honor and a high sense of responsibility the mission entrusted at this historical moment for the South American nation.

He reiterated his full commitment to Venezuela, the defense of its sovereignty, the comprehensive development of the people and the strengthening of Peace Diplomacy, with a view to building strong ties of cooperation, mutual respect and solidarity with all peoples of the world.

The new head of the Venezuelan diplomacy was appointed by the responsible ruler on February 2 at the head of the diplomatic mission of the Bolivarian Republic in the United States and has extensive experience in various diplomatic positions, among them minister for Foreign Affairs, between 2021 and 2022.
